CPVC Fittings Schedule 80
Schedule 80 CPVC fittings from Irrigation Direct are available in a wide variety of configurations. CPVC (Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) is similar to PVC but the addition of chlorine reduces the reaction to heat and corrosive damage and allows the fitting to retain its mechanical strength. The term “Schedule 80” refers to the strength and thickness of the PVC pipe or PVC fitting and how much pressure it can hold. CPVC Schedule 80 fittings are designed to handle water pressures of 300 psi and water temperatures up to 200 degrees and is used in projects that support higher pressures. Meets NSF and ASTM F-437 and F-439 requirements. Manufactured from CPVC 23447-B Gray.
Schedule 80 CPVC fittings, (aka Sch 80), are slightly lighter in color than the standard dark gray Sch 80 PVC fittings and available in two main connection options: Slip and Threaded.
Schedule 80 CPVC slip fittings are solvent welded to PVC pipe using PVC cement. PVC cement is designed to melt plastic, creating a weld between PVC pipe and a PVC fitting.
Schedule 80 CPVC pipe fittings are designed with pipe threads and are used to attach external items that also come with pipe threaded connections, such as irrigation valves, risers, ball valves and backflow preventors. Teflon tape is required when installing threaded PVC fittings.
PVC and Schedule 80 fittings are very versatile and can be used to distribute air or water at high and low pressures. PVC fittings are also easy to install and generally cheaper than alternative materials. PVC fittings have a long lifespan and are highly resistant to corrosion and chemicals making them the preferred choice for sprinkler systems, drip irrigation systems, potable water, chilled water, irrigation, golf courses, and pools/spa applications.
