Product Description
This Y filter is installed between the vacuum breaker and pressure regulator and protects drip emitters from rust, sand and other impurities that may clog them. The stainless steel screen is easily removed for cleaning by unscrewing the threaded cap. Drip emitters are less likely to clog if you install proper filtration.

Y Hose Filter: DD-YS75HFM
The Y Hose Filter from Irrigation Direct is used with Drip Irrigation and is installed between the hose vacuum breaker and the pressure regulator. It helps to protect drip emitters, drippers and soaker hose drip line from rust, sand and other impurities that may clog them. It has a 3/4" female hose swivel inlet and a 3/4" male hose thread outlet.
It comes with an internal 150 mesh stainless steel screen and is easily removed for cleaning. Drip systems are less likely to clog if you install proper filtration.
For larger systems with irrigation valves, use our Y filters with pipe threads and be sure the filter is installed on the downstream side of the valve assembly.
As with all hose threads, no Teflon tape is required. A standard hose washer is used to make a water tight seal.
Installing a Y hose filter is quick and easy.
Simply screw the Y hose filter onto your desired water source below the previously installed hose vacuum breaker. Hand tighten to make a water tight seal.
To clean the internal filter screen, simply unscrew the cap from the filter body and remove the filter.
Inspect the screen for any pitting, holes or damage to the filter and clean with a small nylon brush and water. Replacement screens are available if needed DD-YSRS.

Use Teflon tape on pipe threads
For a water-tight seal
Always use Teflon tape with pipe-threaded fittings. Wrap Teflon tape clockwise 4 - 5 times around pipe threads. Hose-thread fittings use a hose washer to make a water-tight seal.
Check hose washers on hose-thread fittings
To ensure water-tight seal
Over time, hose washers can compress or deteriorate, causing fittings to leak. Check garden hoses and fittings for a flexible hose washer. Replace brittle or worn washers. Insert a hose filter washer for a little added filtration in your hose or drip poly tubing. If the fitting still leaks, try adding a second washer. For pipe threads, use Teflon tape.

FAQ
- Is a filter required?
While a filter is not required, it is highly recommended. Even the cleanest water has small particles in it that can clog drip emitters. Micro sprays are especially susceptible to clogging as the orifices in micro spray components are especially small. Debris can enter a municipal water supply if a mainline breaks or when there is new construction in the area. Well or lake water should always be filtered. Without a filter, you may need to manually take apart emitters to clean them and remove debris that would have been caught by an inexpensive filter. Compare and buy filters.
